The National Board of Medical Examiners Now Certifies Coaches!
That’s right. The NMBE, the same folks that certified you and me to be physicians, and also certifies other healthcare practitioners is now certifying Health and Wellness Coaches. The NMBE is offering the certification in conjunction with the International Consortium for Health and Wellness Coaching (ICHWC.) This is a recognition that coaching is a valuable addition to our box of tools in helping our patients to adopt healthier lifestyles and decrease the incidence of largely preventable diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disease and chronic renal disease. “But what about us?” you ask. If coaching is good for our patients, wouldn’t it be good for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers? The answer is an unequivocal YES. Coaching has been shown to be one of the best interventions in preventing and recovering from professional burnout. Just as years of research has shown that in business, the return on investment in coaching is a whopping 500%, physicians can expect an equivalent return in terms of life on the job, meaningful relationships and improved physical and emotional well-being. If you would like to rediscover the enthusiasm you had in your career at the start, and live a more purposeful and meaningful life, let’s talk. Fill in the form at this link, and take the first step with a no cost, no risk conversation about what coaching can do for you. To your health and well-being!
